On Linux, the "Driver Inside" feature often isn't necessary. The device is usually recognized automatically by the kernel.
Developing a driver for a chip like the T501 is non-trivial. It requires intimate knowledge of the hardware’s register map, interrupt handling, and I²C or SPI bus communication. Engineers must also account for manufacturing variances: no two touchscreens have identical capacitance baselines.
