The Yajur Veda is the third of the four canonical sacred texts (Śruti) of Hinduism, estimated to have been composed between 1400 and 1000 BCE. The name "Yajur Veda" is a compound of yajus (sacrificial formula) and veda (knowledge), translating roughly to the "knowledge of sacrificial formulas".
